A charming pousada with very friendly staff that made my city trip even more enjoyable. The breakfast was amazing, with a wide variety of fresh food, and the pool was well-kept and clean. The location was also ideal, situated near the city center and other attractions.
The room could have been a little more soundproof and private. Sometimes the neighborhood was a bit noisy and it was easy to hear traffic. Additionally, there was no air conditioning in the room, which made it a bit warm at night. However, overall I had a very pleasant stay and would recommend this pousada to anyone looking for a comfortable and affordable city trip.

The very friendly staff and the beautiful location makes you feel like home.
When the pousada is fully booked, the management advertises rooms in the 'dependance'. This dependance is not owned by the owners of Caravela Pousada. Caravela ia the better option so try to avoid the ' dependance'.

Thiago was great and very helpful. I also liked the location of the pousada, very central to everything.
The price was steep for the room.

Wonderful staff. Great location. Really hands on with help if you need it to navigate a portugese speaking island for the first time. All of there recomendations were great. Fun family run pousada. We left with new friends not just a hotel staff. We were sad to leave after four days. Really wonderful place.

I had an amazing stay in this hotel. The staff was exceptionally friendly and helpful, making my holidays more enjoyable. The location was perfect, close to the ferry and a small supermarket. The hotel facilities were great, with air conditioning, a fridge, and a smart TV, and the rooms were cleaned every day. Breakfast was also a highlight, with toasties, pão de queijo and fresh orange juice.
Nothing, all great.

The staff is really friendly and helpful and speak great English. People hang out in the lobby bar, just chatting (there are cocktails, but no food). I liked hanging in the hammock outside my room using the reasonably good free wifi. The interior courtyard is pretty, with plenty of tropical plants, good-smelling flowers and a swimming pool. It's convenient that the hotel is within easy walking distance of the port; allows quick access, especially on departure. Breakfast is good.
Location is a mixed blessing: While there's a big grocery store within short walking distance, for everything else, including beaches or hiking, you've got to take a bus. I took a bus (2.50) to the town of Vila for dinner at night; restaurants near the port are really basic. Buses are fairly frequent and easy, but if you want to hang on the beach, you might prefer staying on a different part of the island. But definitely see below. The mosquito screening on the rooms here isn't complete, although fortunately there weren't a whole lot of mosquitoes on this part of the island. But even one can keep you awake by droning in your ear. The staff suggests a 70-real all-day trip by 4wd through a rainforest to an isolated beach on the other side of the island. Like many in the hotel, I took this trip, but I would never do it again. It was fun -- ask the driver to take you on the waterfall hike when you get there, rather than hang out on the beach all day. Reason? I bought the most expensive bug repellent sold on the island, yet I'm still suffering from sandfly bites four days later. And I had the fewest sandfly bites of anyone on that trip. You'll have fun, but you'll pay later. Bring your own water, you'll want it. And wear long sleeved everything, especially on the beach.

The staff was very friendly and helpful, offering great recommendations for local attractions. The breakfast was delicious with a variety of options. The hotel was conveniently located, close to both the northern and southern parts of the island.
The swimming pool was not well-maintained and could have been cleaner. The room lacked some basic amenities such as mosquito nets and power plugs by the bed.
